I THOUGHT NFTS WERE ALL ART? WHAT'S THIS BOOK NFT ABOUT?
Lots of NFTs are art. Some are great. Some are awful. Project Bookworm grew out of asking 'How can we create more utility using blockchain technology already in place?
Because it's an NFT, of course there is a different image associated with each Chapter, but embedded in the meta-data of each Chapter NFT is a link to a section of the current Bookworm Project (currently Blade of Baz from the Legends of Gaeltach Series).
You also get exclusive access to a private Discord channel where you can discuss the book with the author while it's still being written. The author can come to the Discord community for suggestions and advice on anything from world building to character development to specific plot points. It is designed to be an ongoing, interactive experience for both author and readers.
SO...WHAT'S THE BOOK ABOUT, ANYWAY?
The current project is a Young Adult fantasy novel called Blade of Baz. It's part of a 4 book series (maybe 5?) called Legends of Gaeltach.
In the story, Ryan and Erica are siblings living in upstate New York. One day, they discover an object hidden within the walls of their house that magically transports them to another world.
You'll follow Ryan and Erica as they try to find civilization, meet strange new people, realize they are immediately considered dangerous outlaws, and desperately seek a way back to their own world and family.
Some details on what to expect:
Age appropriateness - 12-99
There will be no swear words in the first draft, but there will be plenty of violence and some bloodiness. So if you have a younger child that can handle, say, a Marvel movie, then it's alright to read them this book.
This book is being written with strong, well-rounded female characters as well as caring, multi-faceted male characters. The author strives to give readers human characters, not stereotypes. There are no perfect heroes in this book, nor are there purely evil villains.
WHERE IS YOUR WHITE PAPER?
Writing a novel is hard, but what we are doing is simple. We are delivering compelling stories while giving you a behind the scenes look at the story as it is being written.
We're very excited about the power of the Cardano blockchain, but we also know our limits. If you want us to make a bunch of dreamy vague promises of gamification and DAOs, you’ll be disappointed. We’re not accustomed to promising more than we can deliver. We are delivering compelling stories. One Chapter Token at a time.
When these books are published, we think you’ll be glad you were there with us from the beginning.
OK, NO WHITE PAPER. BUT WHAT ABOUT TOKENOMICS?
The books are still being written, so the Blade of Baz minting policy is open until about Year-End 2022.
Here are our “tokenomics” commitments:
1. No more than 500 of each "full chapter" token will be circulating. We may need to remint to update metadata and upgrade the tokens, but if we mint more than 500 for this purpose, we will burn the extra tokens.
If you collect each of the "full chapter" tokens, you can redeem them for a signed hard-copy of the finished book, and attend our event at cNFTcon and Rare Bloom.
2. No more than 15,000 of each chapter-specific "sneak peak" token will be circulating.
The "sneak peak" tokens are distributed via the Cardano Single Pool Alliance Vending Machine at vm.AdaSeal.eu. If you collect every one of these chapter-specific preview tokens, you will get access to our event at cNFTcon and Rare Bloom, but no signed hard-copy of the finished book.
3. We are so grateful that we have received multiple submissions for chapter-specific art, and we plan on using these for one-of-one releases, giving the proceeds to charity.

WHAT DO I GET WHEN I BUY A CHAPTER NFT?
When you buy a Chapter NFT you get that NFT with a link embedded in the meta data that will take you to that section of the first draft of the book. You'll also get automatic access to the rest of the book, stored within our Discord.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE BOOK IS FINISHED?
What you get to read right now as these NFTs are released is the first draft of the book. That is an experience that virtually no one ever gets, besides editors at publishing houses. Once the first draft is complete, we will go into the editing phase. Then comes book cover design, layout design, and a million other little details. You will get to see all that happen - and hopefully give us input - throughout that process in the private Discord.
Finally, when the book is ready to be published and purchased on Amazon (and maybe even in bookstores???) NFT holders will get a free Kindle/e-book version of the final version.
People that hold ALL the Chapter NFTs will get a signed physical copy of the book either sent to them or, if you happen to be at the CNFTCon or Rare Bloom conferences, we can give them to you in person!
WHAT IF I GET EVERY CHAPTER NFT?
If you get every Chapter NFT for a Bookworm project, you will get a signed physical copy of the book when it is published!
You will also automatically entered into any contests, giveaways, etc. should we be able to have them.
WHAT IF I SELL A CHAPTER NFT?
If you decide to give away or re-sell your Chapter NFT, you also give away access to the Discord. You can still keep the book if you download it to your computer or Kindle, and the new owner would then have access to the private Discord, where they too can download the book.
Our goal is not to be stingy with our content. On the contrary, we want to get our books into as many hands as possible. Everyone's welcome!
IS PROJECT BOOKWORM OVER AFTER THIS BOOK?
Nope.
Blade of Baz is the first of 3 books in a series that will all be published in this NFT format.
Hopefully, other authors and other genres will jump in and we can help through first drafts all the way to publishing, as well.
We are learning as we go, developing new ways to use the blockchain, and making lots of friends in both the Cardano and Writing Communities. We hope to make this a continuous project as long as readers are enjoying it!
WILL YOU REALLY CHANGE THE BOOK BASED ON NFT HOLDER SUGGESTIONS?
Yes, if they're good suggestions! There are lots of decisions I haven't made yet! I especially want input on world building aspects like the weather, politics, religions, magic system, magical creatures, and fantasy races. What do you folks want to see?
WHY DID YOU START PROJECT BOOKWORM?
I started writing this book for my kids. I want to give my kids characters they can relate to, and let them have an adventure that helps them to grow into the type of people I want them to become.
But writing a novel is HARD. And long. And sometimes tedious.
Matt has been diving into this world of Cardano and blockchain technology for months now, and has been doing little projects to teach himself the code and to understand the mechanics of how NFTs work.
So we started this project as a way to light a fire under me to just get the book written! And also as a way to learn how to make NFTs, distribute them, come up with new uses for them, and hopefully build new systems that don't even exist yet.
How crazy is that?
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE FUNDS RAISED THROUGH PROJECT BOOKWORM?
Money raised through Project Bookworm will go toward the publishing of the current book project. If things get really successful, we'll find fun ways to give back to our NFT holders. Blade of Baz t-shirts? Stickers? Tiny sword replicas? Who knows?
If it becomes really, really, insanely successful, we will find a great literacy program to support.
HOW LONG WILL THE BOOK BE?
That's TBD! The current goal for Blade of Baz is 80,000 (about the length of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone). It very well could be longer, however.
SO HOW DO I BUY A CHAPTER NFT?
Send 3 ADA to the chapter's minting address, and our auto-minting server will send you the token.
Every chapter has a different minting address. We will keep the addresses on the homepage updated with the latest info.
Also, at the beginning of every Epoch, we update the ProjectBookworm tokens on DripDropz or vm.AdaSeal.eu with the new addresses.
We also post lots of updates on the @ada_bookworm twitter feed.
THIS BOOK SUCKS. CAN I GET A REFUND?
That depends. Can you unread it? The whole point of this is for you to help make the book better. You get to be 'on the frontlines' when it comes to writing this book. Help us make it something you want to read. Also, check out the description of the book before purchasing and make sure it's the type of thing you like.
I DON'T CARE ABOUT CARDANO OR CRYPTO. HOW CAN I READ THIS BOOK IF I DON'T WANT TO DIVE INTO CRYPTOCURRENCY?
We are committed to publishing on Cardano. The community is unmatched, and the technology is basically Ethereum functionality with Bitcoin security and higher transaction throughput, using a tiny fraction of the energy. You’ll be impressed with the projects that will launch on this platform in the coming year.

DO YOU SELL HARD COPIES?
What you're reading right now is a first draft. The end goal for this project is to produce a professionally edited and designed e-book, as well as a physical paperback version that can be purchased in traditional bookshops.
The finished product will be different from the NFTs - you're getting to see all the deleted scenes before they're deleted. All NFT holders will get a free copy of the e-book. Those holding the entire collection will get a signed copy of the paperback.
